Do we like Yuya Matsushita?
Our score: 6 out of 10. A clean search and a working stage career, but too little on his views or off-stage record to score higher.
Yuya Matsushita is a Japanese singer, dancer and actor who has been working for well over a decade. In a 2024 interview with Daily Sports he talked about going to New York alone at 15, and said he admires how a regular Japanese boy jumped into that world.
His career runs between pop and musical theatre. He is back in the lead as Brad, the singer of the group Alucard, in THE ALUCARD SHOW, which is its third staging since the 2013 premiere. Crank-in! reported his vocals and stage presence from the press call on 6 October.
Recent work is all in the theatre world. He was lined up for the world-premiere musical Cain and Abel in early 2025, and Crank-in! has tagged him on the 2026 musical announcements and interviews, including Jack the Ripper and BOOP! The Musical. Nothing in that list runs with anyone known for pushing harm.
On the harm check we went looking for anything on LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, public health or the climate, and for political campaigning or conspiracy talk. Nothing turned up in English or Japanese outlets. That is a gap in the record, not a clean bill of health, but nothing counts against him.
Same story on the good-person side. We found no lawsuits, allegations or scandal stories about him, and no reporting on how he treats castmates or staff. We also found no reporting on charity work, so the case for him rests on a quiet, steady career.
So he's a pass on both tests, but a thin one. If you've been a fan of the musicals or the music, there's no reason in the reporting to feel bad about it. We just can't tell you much about the man off stage.
