Do we like Yuna?
Our score: 6 out of 10. We found no harmful words, no dodgy company and no scandal of her own, but also little on record about causes she backs, so we can't go higher.
Yuna is the youngest of ITZY, the JYP Entertainment girl group that debuted in 2019 when she was a teenager. Seven years on, she's 22 and stepping out on her own, which is the story of her 2026 so far.
The big moment was her solo debut mini album Ice Cream on 23 March, making her the second ITZY member to go solo after Yeji. She said she felt as nervous as at her first debut, and that the strength she wants to show is her “bright, natural positive energy”. Fair enough for a bubblegum-pop record.
She was candid about the cost of going it alone. In a chat with BroadwayWorld she said a group comeback is shared among five, and this time it was just her. She also credited Yeji and the other members for ideas and support along the way.
On the harm check, we went looking and came up empty in the best way. There are no statements from her on trans people, women, migrants, vaccines or the climate, no political campaigning, and no dodgy co-stars that we found. Her acting debut was in the tvN drama Undercover Miss Hong, alongside Park Shin-hye. That's thin rather than a glowing reference, so it's a pass and no more.
On the good-person side, there are no court cases or credible allegations against her in the sources we checked. The one ugly incident was aimed at her: at KCON 2023 in Los Angeles an audience member shouted an insult at her while she answered a question. Yeji reportedly turned to face the heckler, and fans praised her for backing Yuna up.
What we couldn't find is any documented charity work or cause of her own, which is why this isn't a higher score. Her agency JYP does plenty of giving, but nothing we read ties her personally to a donation, and we won't pretend otherwise. This year she's also been promoting with ITZY's Motto mini album alongside her solo work.
