Do we like Wang Yibo?
Our score: 6 out of 10. No harmful words or acts found and some signs of decency, but too little solid reporting to score him higher.
Wang Yibo is one of China's biggest young stars, born in Luoyang in Henan province. China Daily says he started street dancing young, joined a popular boy group, then became a variety show host, dance mentor, actor, singer and professional motorcycle racer. He has nearly 42 million followers on Weibo.
That busy start came at a cost. In a January 2026 interview he looked back on the years of nonstop work, saying “I worked so much that I had almost no life of my own.” These days he talks up getting outdoors, and his documentary series Exploring the Unknown with Wang Yibo follows him through mountains and rocky terrain.
On the harm check, we found nothing. We found no remarks about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, vaccines or the climate, and no record of him campaigning for or platforming anyone who pushes harm. That counts for something, but silence is not the same as a track record, and Chinese celebrities work under heavy media rules that make public stands rare. We could only open one solid English-language profile of him, so call this a pass on what we found, not a deep dive.
A lot of what circulates about him is gossip: marriage rumours, leaked chat screenshots and talk about his contract. The reports we found were on fan blogs and K-pop gossip sites, and none came from a major outlet we could open. That is tabloid territory, so we've left it out rather than repeat it.
For the good stuff, the best-sourced thing we could open is his shift toward slowing down, getting into nature and talking openly about burnout. Some blogs report large charity donations, but we couldn't confirm them in a source with a clear date, so we're not counting them. If those reports hold up, they would lift him.
So: would we support him? Probably yes. Nothing nasty, a career built on dance, music and racing, and no dodgy company turned up. The honest caveat is that the evidence is thin, so he sits in the comfortable middle until there is more.
