Do we like Victoria De Angelis?
Our score: 7 out of 10. Nothing harmful or dodgy turned up and she has spoken up about life as an openly queer woman in Italy, but there's little on her wider causes.
Victoria De Angelis is a Roman who picked up guitar at eight, then learned bass at music school. She met her future bandmates at secondary school in Rome in 2016. She suggested the name Måneskin, Danish for moonlight, as a nod to her Danish mother. She has said she grew up rejecting social conventions, and RTBF reports she was teased for not conforming to gender norms.
The band got its first big Italian push on The X Factor in 2017 and signed with Sony soon after. Her best-known 'scandal' is a clothing slip at the 2022 VMAs, when her top came off mid-dance during 'Supermodel'. MTV cut away to the audience for more than 20 seconds. It says more about telly nerves than about her.
On the harm check, we found no harmful words or acts from her, and no sign she has platformed anyone who pushes harm. In 2023 Gay Times ran her talking about being openly queer in Italy under the line “It's very conservative still.” We found nothing from her on climate, migration or the wars in the news, so that part of the picture is blank rather than clean.
Lately she has been building a solo life as a DJ. In 2024 she signed to Sony's electronic label noted., with a debut single featuring Brazilian star Anitta. She said then: “I've never really fit into predefined boxes.” A July 2025 PAPER interview has her happy with how the solo material landed.
Nothing new on her lately that we could confirm. Måneskin have been on a break, which an Italian outlet described in August 2025 as a pause rather than a split, with a return to the stage and a 2026 tour planned. We couldn't find an official 2026 tour or album announcement from her, so treat reunion talk as talk.
On the good-person test, there isn't a single lawsuit, court outcome or story of her treating people badly in what we found. The flip side is that we also found no charity drives or big public stands beyond talking honestly about queer life in Italy. That's honestly the whole list, so this is a pass on a clean sheet rather than a pass on a big résumé.
