Do we like Victoria De Angelis?
Our score: 7 out of 10. Nothing harmful found and a clear, public stand on being queer in Italy, but the record is short and I couldn't open much of it.
Victoria De Angelis plays bass in Måneskin, the Roman rock band that won Eurovision for Italy in 2021 and then went global. She is also a songwriter and DJ, and she has spent the band's break on electronic music. Rome's mayor honoured the band after the Eurovision win.
On the harm check, the search came up empty, which is a good result. No harmful comments about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants or the planet turned up, and no campaigning or dodgy company either. The one caveat: several of the pages I wanted to read in full were blocked on the day, so this rests on a short list.
What she has said on the record is on our side. Speaking to The Big Issue in 2023, she described how it felt to start dating women in Italy, saying “I felt people really staring.” She said she thinks many Italians still see homosexuality as sinful, and hopes younger generations are more tolerant.
A note on one claim that floated around: a search summary suggested she opposed adoption by queer people. When I read the actual PinkNews piece, that line was Italy's prime minister Giorgia Meloni's, not hers. Nothing in the article attributes it to De Angelis, so it stays out.
On the good-person side there are no lawsuits, convictions or credible accusations against her in what I found. The only whiff of drama is the usual band-gossip about who is getting along with whom, and that's tabloid territory. I found no big charity record either, so don't expect a long list of good deeds.
The latest is the band side of things. Italian outlets reported in spring 2026 that all four members were back together in Rome, with a possible reunion at the Sanremo festival, even though they have never officially split. If she's back on stage with Måneskin, there's no reason we'd flinch.
