Do we like Travis Head?
Our score: 7 out of 10. Clean on the harm check and a mostly decent record on the field, but no real charity or cause work turned up to push it higher.
Head is a South Australian left-hander who has become one of Australia's most dangerous batters in all three formats. In 2025-26 he scored 1,437 runs in 30 matches across the season, and Cricket Australia's own reporting has him as a back-to-back Allan Border medallist. He won the 2026 medal by a single vote over his state teammate Alex Carey.
The Ashes opener in Perth is the innings fans will remember. Pushed up the order as a makeshift opener, he smashed 123 off 83 balls and Australia won inside two days. He later told Reuters he was wary of angering England's quicks, saying he was realistic that they had two blokes bowling 150 clicks.
The nearest thing to a black mark is on-field. In the Adelaide Test against India in December 2024, he and Mohammed Siraj had a heated exchange after Siraj bowled him. The ICC reprimanded Head under its article on abuse of a player and gave him one demerit point. Both men admitted their breaches and accepted the sanctions without a hearing, and it was his first offence in 24 months.
The harm check came up clean. Searches on what he has said about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, vaccines and the climate returned nothing from him at all. His current deals are with a trader-evaluation platform called Tradeify, signed in April 2026, and Budgy Smuggler, announced in September 2026. Neither is a harm story, and there's no sign he keeps company with anyone pushing a grievance agenda. Silence isn't a gold star, but it's not a stain either.
On the good stuff, the honest answer is that it's mostly cricket. Awards and a clean record are real, but no charity work, causes or standing up for others turned up in the reporting we read. That's the gap between a 7 and a 9 here.
