Do we like Till Lindemann?
Our score: 4 out of 10. No harmful words of his own turned up, but the unresolved misconduct allegations and the thin record keep this in the middle.
Till Lindemann fronts Rammstein, the German band known for its pyro-heavy stadium shows, and also runs a solo act. The English-language reporting we could open is mostly about the legal fallout since 2023, not his upbringing, so that's all this column can tell you about his early life.
The big cloud over him is the 2023 allegations of sexual misconduct, made by women after Rammstein concerts. Berlin police opened an investigation in June 2023 and closed it in August 2023, and he and the band have denounced the allegations. A closed investigation isn't the same as being cleared by a court, and it isn't the same as the allegations being proved either.
The legal skirmishes since have been messy. A Hamburg court refused his bid for an injunction against one of the women who went public, treating her claim that she was spiked as opinion, and he didn't appeal. His lawyers have also gone after Der Spiegel, alleging its coverage used falsified documents; the report we read carries no ruling on that.
On the harm test, we found no statements from him against LGBTQ+ people, women as a group, migrants or the planet, and no campaigning or conspiracy talk. The one political stain is Russia: in 2016 Russian media quoted him praising Putin, and he said he was the victim of Putin propaganda, the shirt photo was fake and he doesn't make political statements. Where you land depends on whether you believe him or the Russian reports. We found nothing from him either way on trans people.
The latest flare-up was in January 2026, when he posted a photo with the singer Yungblud in Perth during his first Australian tour. Fans pointed to the 2023 allegations, and Yungblud apologised. Nothing newer than that turned up on the legal front.
On the good side, in March 2022 he was reportedly seen helping Ukrainian refugees at Berlin's main station. It's a thin pile of good deeds, reported second-hand, not a long track record of using his platform for others.
