Do we like Technoblade?
Our score: 8 out of 10. Decent record and real fundraising, held back only by old posts from his youth that were never publicly answered.
Technoblade was a Minecraft YouTuber who kept his identity secret for years. By 2022 he had nearly 11 million YouTube subscribers, and fans knew him for videos built on his love of the game. His real first name, Alex, only came out in his final video.
He died at 23. His family announced it in a farewell video called "so long nerds", with his dad reading out a message he wrote hours earlier. It opened with “If you're watching this, I am dead.” and he called his years online “the happiest years of my life.”
The one real blemish is from April 2021. Screenshots of old posts resurfaced, the #KICKDave hashtag trended after his real name was released, and critics alleged the posts from his youth contained racist and sexist language. He copped death threats under that hashtag, and PinkNews reported he hadn't commented on the allegations. That leaves a gap: no apology and no explanation on record.
On the harm check, I found nothing from him about LGBTQ+ people, women, vaccines, climate or politics, and no court cases or lawsuits against him. The old-posts allegation is the only mark, and it comes from his youth, not from a campaign. The record is thin because he died young, and that's honestly the whole list.
The good stuff is solid. CNN reported he rallied supporters to raise over $500,000 for sarcoma research through the Sarcoma Foundation of America. The foundation used the money for research grants in his name and planned to give him its Courage Award.
He's still in the headlines in 2026. When a YouTuber named Technolarp started imitating him and then said he'd been doxxed, Technoblade's dad, known as Technodad, said “Yeah that is absolutely not ok.” He hasn't approved or rejected the channel, and he launched a Team Technoblade channel in April to keep Alex's memory alive. A feature documentary financed by Riot Games and Hypixel Studios, with profits going to charity, is now in production.
