Do we like Stephen Flynn?
Our score: 5 out of 10. Little harm turned up and one contested energy position, but too little verified good or bad to score him higher.
Here's the honest bit first: this one's a thin file. Most of the news pages on Stephen Flynn would not open for us, so what follows sticks to his recorded Commons contributions rather than the gossip.
The clearest thread is energy. In a March 2026 Commons debate on oil and gas, he argued the government should set out a proper plan for the North Sea's workers and communities, which is a jobs-first pitch rather than a climate-denial one.
It's a pattern, not a one-off. He also spoke in a Commons debate on the North Sea oil and gas industry in October 2025, and on the Rosebank and Jackdaw oilfields in February 2025. Climate campaigners dislike new drilling, and defenders say workers shouldn't be left stranded, so where you land depends on which of those weighs more for you.
On the harm test, nothing in what we could verify shows him attacking LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants or people of colour, or pushing conspiracy theories. That's an absence of evidence from a limited read, not a clean bill of health, and we found no statement from him on trans rights at all.
On the good-person side we couldn't verify any court cases, sourced allegations, or charity work, so we won't invent a pass or a fail. The verdict is a shrug with a lean towards decent: worth a closer look before you go buying the tour T-shirt.
