Do we like Stell Ajero?
Our score: 8 out of 10. No harmful words or company turned up, and there's real good on the record, but we couldn't open every page, so we're holding back from a 9.
Stell is the main vocalist and lead dancer of SB19, the Filipino boy band that put P-pop on the world map. He's also a coach on The Voice Generations in the Philippines, which is a big profile for a bloke who started out as a dancer.
In June 2024 he stepped out on his own with the solo single “Room”. It was the start of his solo career, and the group's fans took it as a big moment for him.
On the harm test, we found nothing. No searches turned up anything he's said or done against LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, public health or the planet, and no pattern of working with people who push that stuff. The gap is that we couldn't open every article, so this is an absence of evidence, not a full audit.
When fans turned on volleyball star Sisi Rondina in 2024 over a comment she made, Stell and bandmate Pablo called the pile-on out. In the reporting he's quoted as saying “I personally don't tolerate this kind of behavior.” That's the sort of thing that costs you something with your own fanbase, so it counts.
On the good-stuff side, Stell and singer Julie Anne San Jose ran a donation drive at their joint concerts in 2024 to help victims of Super Typhoon Carina. He's also been open and good-humoured when rumours about him went round, and he didn't lash out at the people doing it.
We found no court cases and no credible allegations against him, and he doesn't seem to be a bloke who goes looking for a stoush. Where he's been drawn into a public fight, the reporting shows him trying to cool it down.
