Do we like Sophie Turner?
Our score: 8 out of 10. Nothing harmful in her own words or her company, a visible record of supporting women and Pride, and only one old social-media row against her.
Sophie Turner was a teenager when she landed Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, and she grew up on the world's biggest TV set. That role made her famous, and she has spent the years since carving out a life beyond Westeros, from X-Men to thrillers to a lead role in Amazon's new Tomb Raider series.
The one real social-media stoush came in 2017. A DJ posted a gym video of her and her then-partner, and plenty of viewers said they heard a racial slur. Turner said in a statement that she “would never use such an abhorrent word”, explaining she had said a different, merely rude, word. The video was later deleted, and nothing since suggests a pattern.
On the harm check, nothing nasty turned up. In June 2021 she posted a Pride Month Instagram story saying “time isn't straight and neither am I”, which is about as supportive as a post gets. I found no anti-trans comments, no conspiracy rabbit holes and no run of work with culture-war studios. Her recent projects are with mainstream outfits like Amazon MGM.
Nothing new on her lately that bears on the question. Production on Tomb Raider paused briefly in March 2026, according to Amazon MGM, which said it hoped to resume as soon as possible. That's a schedule story, not a scandal. The honest caveat is that the record on climate and migration is thin because she hasn't said much about either.
