Do we like Rosé?

Our score: 7 out of 10. Nothing harmful in her words or acts and some real good, but the record on her politics and personal giving is thin, so it stops short of the top.

Rosé is one of the four voices of Blackpink and a global ambassador for Saint Laurent. By January 2026 she was 28 and telling a podcast she wasn't ready for a solo world tour yet. The pages we read don't dig into her early life, so this is the short version rather than the full origin story.

The messiest recent saga wasn't her fault. In late 2025 Elle UK posted a Paris Fashion Week group photo that left Rosé out, and fans accused the magazine of racism. Charli XCX then shared a version in which Rosé looked noticeably darkened. Elle UK apologised, saying it had cropped her “for size”. Rosé didn't address it head on; she posted from the show and wrote a warm thank-you to Saint Laurent.

The most recent stoush was with her own fans. Before Blackpink's 10th-anniversary event on 8 August 2026, rumours spread that she would skip it. Her agency, The Black Label, said she had secured her schedule well in advance. All four turned up, but fans online complained that the event was small and the main segment short.

Rosé then wrote that she was “deeply sorry” and that she had wanted the day to be one where everyone could smile. Jisoo also apologised and asked fans to stop baseless speculation. For a fan-service hiccup it was a decent, adult response.

On the harm check, nothing nasty turned up. We found no harmful statements about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants or anyone else, and no donations or campaigning for harmful causes. In 2021 she fronted YouTube's Dear Earth climate special, saying “Our generation has to come together”. She has also kept out of culture wars. That could mean she's a quiet ally or simply says little, and the thin record is the honest caveat.

On the good stuff, Blackpink were named United Nations advocates for the Sustainable Development Goals, and they were special speakers at Dear Earth in 2021. She also reportedly turned down a big US$7.2 million drinks endorsement in September 2026 to keep control over how her image was used. That comes from unnamed industry sources, so take it as reported rather than confirmed. We couldn't verify her personal charity giving from reputable outlets, so we've left it out.
