Do we like Robyn?
Our score: 7 out of 10. Nothing harmful turned up and plenty of goodwill, but she keeps her politics quiet, so the record is thinner than a 9 would need.
Robyn is the stage name of Robin Carlsson, a Swedish pop star who had hits in the 90s with Max Martin before reinventing herself as an electro-pop auteur. A reviewer put her at 46 in March 2026. She is known for releasing music on her own label so she controlled her career and creative process.
Scandals first, because that's what you came for: we couldn't find any. No court cases, no accusations from staff or fans, no cancellation moments in the reporting we read. That's honestly the whole list, so if you hear something, check where it came from.
On the harm check, nothing nasty turned up. In a Dallas Voice interview she said she can “recognize myself in the LGBTQ community” and described a “pure bond” with her queer fans. In January 2026 she told the Las Culturistas podcast she had disliked Elon Musk long before it was fashionable, citing his 2018 Tesla launch stunt. Her main collaborators are Max Martin and longtime co-producer Klas Åhlund, and we found no problems with that company.
The recent news is music. Sexistential, her first album since Honey in 2018, was reviewed in late March 2026 as a vulnerable, bittersweet record about her changing relationship with her body. Ahead of release she said of one single, “I like talkers, that turns me on.” A world tour followed, with Australian dates due in November.
The good stuff is mostly cultural, with a bit of heart. KTH Royal Institute of Technology gave her its 2013 Great Prize for using new technology in innovative ways, and she said she would donate the SEK 1.2 million prize money to a cause around education and science. NME also named her Songwriter of the Decade in 2020. Queer fans have treated her as a champion for decades, and she has called that status one of the biggest compliments you can get as an artist.
The gap is that she isn't a loud campaigner, so we have little on where she stands on trans rights or the planet beyond her fan bond and the Musk jab. Silence isn't harm, though. On what's on the record, she passes both tests.
