Do we like Richard Ridings?
Our score: 6 out of 10. Nothing harmful and a gentle public record, but there is too little reporting to score him any higher.
Richard Ridings is the English actor behind Daddy Pig, and he has been the only actor to voice the character since Peppa Pig began in 2004. Millions of kids (and their worn-out parents) know his voice even if they'd never pick him in a line-up.
Before the pig, he built a long stage, TV and voice career. He has played Alan Ashburn in ITV's Fat Friends and Bernard in Common as Muck, and he voiced Angelo in Who Framed Roger Rabbit. He has also done motion-capture work with Ninja Theory, the Cambridge games studio.
On the harm check, we searched for anything he has said or done about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, public health or the planet, and for the company he keeps. Nothing turned up. That is not the same as a glowing endorsement, but there is no slide into grievance, no conspiracy talk and no culture-war grifting in what we found.
On the good-person side, no court cases, lawsuits or allegations came up in the searches. In interviews he describes Daddy Pig as “a warm and supportive daddy who will have a go at most things.” He says he sees himself in the character, and that he likes recording audio messages for kids.
There was no recent news to report, so nothing is brewing at the moment. We also saw no verified charity work or awards, so the good stuff here is mostly a lifetime of gentle, well-loved kids' telly. If you want a fuller picture, the reporting just isn't there yet.
