Do we like Ranveer Allahbadia?
Our score: 6 out of 10. One real stain and a case still unresolved, against no harmful campaigning we could find and an apology that came fast, so a middling-to-decent score.
Ranveer Allahbadia, who goes by BeerBiceps online, is an Indian YouTuber who built a fitness channel into The Ranveer Show, a podcast he had been running for around six years before 2025. In March 2024 Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented him with Disruptor of the Year at India's first National Creators Awards. For a while he was about as mainstream as an Indian creator gets.
Then, in February 2025, he appeared on Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent and asked a contestant a crude question about children watching their parents have sex. The clip went viral, complaints were lodged with Mumbai police and the Maharashtra Women's Commission, and FIRs alleging obscenity followed in several states. He apologised in a short video the next day: “it wasn't even funny”, he said, adding that comedy is not his forte.
The Supreme Court gave him interim protection from arrest and, for a time, kept him off air. In March 2025 it let the podcast resume with a decency undertaking. In April 2025 it ordered his passport released after being told the Assam and Maharashtra investigations were complete, but did not decide whether to combine the FIRs. We found no later ruling, so as far as the reporting we read goes, the matter hasn't been decided.
On the harm test, there's no sign in the sources we read of him campaigning against LGBTQ+ or trans people, migrants, or climate science, and no slide into conspiracy theories. The row was about vulgarity, and the award from the PM was an award, not a statement of belief on his part. Our searches on his views and guests were thin, so that's honestly the extent of what we can say.
The recent chapter is about the comeback. On 25 March 2026 he posted that he and his team spent ten years building the brand, and wrote that “growth takes time, and so does rebuilding.” Kamra replied that more than 30 artists were summoned over the show and accused him of milking it. In May 2026 he appeared with Raina on a Netflix Kapil Sharma special, which one report says carried no direct apology or nod to other comedians affected, and a documentary on the row was announced.
On the good side, he apologised within a day and asked the show's makers to cut the offending section. Later he said the media frenzy made him angry, but he came to see his predicament stemmed from his own actions. We found no charity work or kind acts documented in the sources, so the good stuff here is thin: the award, and a public attempt to own the mistake.
