Do we like Pokimane?

Our score: 7 out of 10. No campaign against any group turned up and she has spoken up for others, but a resurfaced slur clip and a cookie-price own goal leave a couple of marks.

Imane Anys, aka Pokimane, became one of the biggest women on Twitch, with more than 9 million followers by 2023. Being a woman at that scale has not been a free ride. In 2021 she talked about avoiding voice chat in Valorant because of how some players react to her gender.

Her messiest moments are the ones people still dig up. A 2013 clip resurfaced in which she says the N-word several times in a game. She said she was underage, no longer uses the word, and meant nothing derogatory by it, while critics said her intent didn't matter. In 2018 she was also accused of misusing YouTube copyright strikes on critics, and she apologised to one of the creators.

On the harm check, nothing turned up that sits on the wrong side of it. We found no campaigning against LGBTQ+ or trans people, no anti-vax or climate-denial material, and no push for election lies or conspiracy theories. In a 2022 stream she partly agreed with Mizkif's take on women and viewer counts, saying he wasn't wrong while rejecting the idea that women have it way easier. We couldn't find a clear picture of who she has made recent projects with, so treat that part as unchecked.

The 2023 Myna Snacks cookie saga was a pure own goal. The pricing drew backlash, and she joked that critics could say so if they were broke, which only made it worse. She denied the knockoff claims and apologised for the remarks. By April 2026 she had stepped away from the brand and said she took no profits from it.

The deepfake issue is where she is loudest. In January 2026 she criticised how easily AI platforms let people make sexual images of others, and said she has paid thousands of dollars to get such content removed. In October 2026 she said Atrioc's presence at a mutual friend's wedding still hurt, and that she wasn't trying to cancel him or police anyone's guest list. He called her feelings valid and said he'd pulled out of TwitchCon.

The real good is that she speaks up. In 2023 she told her audience that an unnamed industry professional had allegedly manipulated young women in her community by faking a relationship with her. She chose not to name him, to protect those women. We couldn't open a page confirming her charity totals, so we won't tout them.
