Do we like Paweł Mąciwoda?
Our score: 6 out of 10. No harmful words, acts or court trouble turned up, but there's too little on the record to score him any higher.
Paweł Mąciwoda is the Polish bassist in Scorpions, the German hard rock band behind the power ballads everyone has screamed along to at some wedding. Polish radio RMF24 reported that he got the job after a casting call: the band needed a bassist, he turned up to the audition, and he has been playing with them ever since.
The best story we could actually read is a small one. He told RMF24 about being left behind at an airport in New Caledonia for two days on tour. It's a very rock and roll sort of mishap, and it suggests a bloke who copes with chaos rather than causing it.
On the harm check, we found nothing. No remarks about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, vaccines or the climate turned up from him, and no sign he has promoted anyone pushing that stuff. He's the quiet one in a famous band, so that's partly a gap in the reporting, and we're telling you so rather than calling it a clean bill.
On the good-person side, searches for court cases or allegations against him found nothing that was actually him. The hits were about unrelated Poles who share the initials. He's also not on record with any charity work we could verify, so there's no big good deed to point to either.
The recent news is about the band, not him. Scorpions have postponed their remaining 2026 shows to 2027, and the band hasn't given any detail beyond 'unforeseen circumstances'. Fans are disappointed, but there's no blame on him in the reporting we read.
