Do we like Patricia Lasaten?

Our score: 8 out of 10. No harmful words or company turned up, and she has spoken openly about coming out and why it matters, though the public record on her is fairly thin.

Pat Lasaten is the keyboardist in Ben&Ben, the nine-piece Filipino folk-pop band. She's from Cavite and studied music composition at college. Her dad is a well-known Philippine film composer who taught her plenty, and she started out as his apprentice.

She was working as a film and TV composer and arranger when the band took off. About six months after she started touring full-time with Ben&Ben, she left that job to back the band properly. That's a fair bet on herself.

On the harm check, we found nothing: no nasty comments about trans people, women, migrants or anyone else, and no climate or vaccine nonsense. The one band-level stoush we read about, in August 2024, was about gig scheduling at an FEU Diliman event and a 2022 rally. Ben&Ben denied sidelining other acts and said it would now only play if the programme is followed. Nothing in that coverage involves Pat personally.

The band also became a mission ambassador for Caritas Philippines' Alay Kapwa programme in 2025, headlining a campaign for monthly donations to poverty reduction and disaster response. The Caritas president said the band's values were “deeply aligned with our mission”. Faith-linked charity work isn't a harm flag here; it's just good work.

The honest gap: coverage of her individually is mostly about the band and her relationship, so there's no long record of interviews on politics or the planet to test. Searches turned up no court cases, lawsuits or allegations against her. That's a clean sheet, but also a short one.

So, would we support her? Yes. She's a working musician who has been open about being queer in a country where that isn't always easy, and she plays with a band that publicly stuck up for fairness. We'd happily like her.
