Do we like Nico Rosberg?

Our score: 7 out of 10. A clean harm check and real green and charity work, but thin evidence on LGBTQ+ issues and several pages wouldn't open.

Here's the honest caveat up front: this was a lighter dig than usual, because several big pages (including the 2026 business and Hamilton stories) wouldn't open for me. What I did read points one way, and nothing in the search results pointed the other. Treat it as a good lean rather than a full audit.

On the planet, he walks the walk. His Extreme E team, Rosberg X Racing, signed on to the UN Sports for Climate Action Framework, was recognised as net carbon-zero, planted over 100 trees at a testing venue, and donated 180 solar-powered reading lamps to schools in Senegal. He was also due to speak at the COP26 climate conference.

On women, he has put his name and his hiring behind it. In 2021 he said motorsport had been male-dominated for many years and that progress needed to continue, praised Extreme E's gender-neutral racing, and picked Molly Taylor, whom he called a huge advocate for equality, as a driver. His team also backed a gender equality project at the season opener in AlUla, Saudi Arabia.

The gap is LGBTQ+ issues. I found no statement from him either way, no anti-trans campaigning, no conspiracy-theory slide and no culture-war grifting. Silence isn't the same as allyship, so that's the one honest asterisk on the picture, not a mark against him.

On the good-person side, his charity record is real. As a Laureus ambassador he fronted the 2015 #DriveForGood campaign, where Mercedes donated 100 euros for every kilometre he led, and it raised 160,900 euros for the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. No lawsuits or convictions against him turned up in my searches, though the search results did mention his lawyer denying tax-evasion claims linked to the Panama Papers leak, which I couldn't open or verify.

So: a former F1 champ turned green investor who puts effort into climate and gender equality, with nothing nasty on file. If you want a perfect score you'd want to see him speak up for LGBTQ+ people too, but as a person to like, he's an easy yes.
