Do we like Marjorie Taylor Greene?

Our score: 2 out of 10. A long run of her own words, bills and claims rated false, aimed largely at trans people, with a little real good (the Epstein stand, a late apology) set against it.

Greene won Georgia's 14th district in 2020 and walked out of Congress on 5 January 2026, a year before her term ended. For most of that time she was one of Trump's most loyal foot soldiers, voting with him 98 per cent of the time, according to Roll Call. She also promoted QAnon before later distancing herself from it.

The first big stoush came before she'd even settled in. In February 2021 the House stripped her of her committee seats, with all Democrats and 11 Republicans voting yes. CBS reported she had pushed conspiracy theories, including questioning whether school shootings were staged, and had shared antisemitic and anti-Muslim content. On the floor she said “these things do not represent me, they do not represent my district.”

Now the harm check, and it's the heavy part. She spoke against the Equality Act, put up a sign outside her office that read “There are TWO genders”, and in 2025 called Rep. Sarah McBride, the first out trans member of Congress, a “child predator”, according to the Advocate. She introduced a bill to criminalise gender-affirming care for trans youth, and one of her last acts was shepherding a ban through the House, which she called “a win for children all over America!!”

On facts, PolitiFact's scorecard for her lists ten ratings: seven False and three Pants on Fire, none higher. They include a claim that Dominion machines flipped votes in a Georgia county and a claim that old patents show people can control the weather. A 2022 bid to keep her off the ballot over January 6 was defeated, and she stayed on it.

Then the plot twist. She broke with Trump over the Epstein files, health care subsidies and foreign wars, and he called her a “traitor”. She told CNN's Dana Bash “I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics” after Charlie Kirk's killing, and when Bash said she'd only objected once it hit her, she said “that's fair criticism.” On The View she still said January 6 defendants faced a “two-tier justice system”.

This year she's kept at it. In April, after Trump posted that a whole civilisation would die if Iran missed a deadline, she called for the 25th Amendment, writing that it was “evil and madness”. In June the Daily Beast reported her hinting at a move into TV, and she has said she's not walking away from her conservative views.
