Do we like Marianne Vos?

Our score: 7 out of 10. A clean record and real work for women's cycling, held back from higher only because little is on record about her views beyond sport.

Marianne Vos is the Dutch rider other riders get compared to. She has won across road, cyclo-cross, track and gravel, and she is still winning at 39. Her latest was the gravel world title in Western Australia on 10 October, which Sporza described as an emotional win after a very hard year.

That hard year was personal. She pulled out of the Tour of Flanders in April to be with her family after her father died, according to her team's announcement as reported by Tuttobiciweb. She came back to racing and ended the season in a rainbow jersey, which is a good story whatever you think of bike racing.

On the harm check, the searches turned up nothing. No nasty comments about trans or LGBTQ+ people, no conspiracy-theory slide, no dodgy co-stars or business partners. To be fair, she isn't someone who comments on culture-war topics, so the record is quiet rather than loudly good. That's the honest limit of what turned up on LGBTQ+ and climate issues.

Where she has spoken up is women's sport. In 2013 she was pushing Tour de France organisers to let women race, as Al Jazeera reported. That campaign was a long way from winning at the time, and the women's Tour now exists, which says something about the people who kept at it.

As for her loyalty, Vos signed a contract for life with Visma-Lease a Bike in 2025, according to Sporza. No court cases, no misconduct allegations and no sponsor scandals attached to her came up in the searches. I couldn't open full articles in this session, so this rests on search results and headlines. It's a thin file but a clean one.
