Do we like Margot Robbie?

Our score: 8 out of 10. A clean record on harm, a union supporter and a producer of women-led films, with one old overseas scuffle involving her friends and no known outcome.

Margot Robbie is the Queensland kid who went from the soapie Neighbours to Hollywood without becoming a menace along the way. These days she's as much a producer as a star, and her company LuckyChap exists to push female-led stories. She has said she feels an obligation to take on the statistics on female-driven content.

Nothing new on her lately in the scandal department. Her latest big release, Wuthering Heights, opened in February 2026 to a split reception: roughly 62 per cent from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a B from audiences. It still topped the box office in several countries, with a crowd that was about 76 per cent women.

On the harm test, we found no slide into grievance, conspiracy theories or culture-war grifting, and nothing she has said against any group. What we did find is the opposite: she's talked about unions, and she's called out the way women are treated in the industry. In February 2026 she told Complex that a male actor once gave her a book telling her to eat less, early in her career.

She backed the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike on the Barbie press tour, saying she'd stand by the unions. The Nation reported she has also been active with the actors' union in Australia. In 2017 she told The Hollywood Reporter that the wave of misconduct allegations in Hollywood had created a sense of community among actresses.

The one blemish is murky and isn't really hers. In October 2022 in Buenos Aires, a photographer was reportedly hurt after a scuffle outside a restaurant, and two of the pair's friends were reportedly detained. Remezcla reported that Robbie was not accused in that piece and that her reps hadn't commented, and I couldn't find a final outcome. That's a story about the people around her, so we're noting it and not marking her down.

The honest gap: she doesn't spill much on politics, so we can't tell you where she lands on big contested issues. What the record shows is a woman who produces women's stories and stands with her union. For a household that wants nice and not harmful, that's a good place to be.
