Do we like Maloi?
Our score: 7 out of 10. Decent record and a quick apology for one misstep in 2024, but the public record on her own views is thin.
Maloi is one of the eight members of BINI, the Filipino girl group that played Coachella in April 2026 and has been on a world tour. She talks about the tour in a fairly down-to-earth way: new cities, new food, new experiences. That's about as much personality as the big outlets have printed from her lately.
Her one proper stoush was in September 2024. She reposted a TikTok of a man apparently imitating a person with a disability's dance, with a laughing comment, and netizens said it mocked people with disabilities. She apologised on Twitter, saying she was deeply sorry, that she respects people regardless of their background, and that she'd be more careful.
On the harm check, we looked for anything she has said or done about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, public health or the planet. Nothing turned up, no conspiracy theories and no culture-war grievance, and I found no bad company either. The disability repost is the only mark, and she apologised for it. The honest caveat is that she hasn't said much on those subjects either way.
The recent noise is small. In March 2026 she missed a BINI mall show in Alabang, and netizens questioned her absence after the group's management put out an advisory. Then in April the group announced she would skip the remaining Coachella commitments while the other seven carried on. It's fan-forum drama rather than a scandal, and there's no court case or serious allegation attached to her.
The good stuff is mostly in how she talks about the fans and the job. In a Grammy interview she said she was glad the group's documentaries make them more human, because people tend to see them only as their perfect selves. That's a decent instinct for someone with a very big fanbase.
So: would we support her? Yes. She's young, famous fast, and slipped once in public, then apologised plainly and moved on. If something harmful ever surfaces we'll flag it, but right now the record is clean apart from that repost.
