Do we like Lewis Capaldi?

Our score: 8 out of 10. No harmful words or company turned up, and he has put money and time into helping fans, but he rarely speaks on bigger issues.

On the harm test, we came up empty. We searched his name against LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, climate, vaccines and politics and found no harmful words, no culture-war grievance and no dodgy collaborators. The honest caveat is that he rarely speaks about big issues, so a clean sheet partly reflects a quiet record. The nearest thing to a view we found was a 2025 interview where he said women are making the most interesting pop.

The comeback is the part fans remember. At Glastonbury in 2025 he played a 35-minute Pyramid Stage set and told the crowd he might “start crying” if he said much. Weeks later he teamed up with BetterHelp to give away 734,000 hours of free therapy to fans. He said he wanted to support them as they'd supported him.

Now he's closing out a big summer and heading off to write a third album. At Sziget in August 2026 he promised to be back as soon as he could. Nothing in the record suggests we'd be embarrassed to cheer him on.
