Do we like Kylie Jenner?

Our score: 6 out of 10. No harmful words or campaigning turned up and she has given real money, but there are a few contested moments and not much on where she stands.

Kylie Jenner was born in Los Angeles in 1997 and grew up on camera, because the family's reality show started on E! in 2007 when she was a kid. She turned that visibility into Kylie Cosmetics, which began with lip kits in 2015. She also landed on Time's Most Influential Teens list that year.

The money story is the big one. In 2019 Forbes crowned her the youngest self-made billionaire, then in May 2020 it took the title back. Forbes accused her and her circle of a “web of lies” and said tax returns it was shown were likely forged. Kylie hit back on Twitter, asking “that's your proof? so you just THOUGHT they were forged?” Coty had already bought 51 per cent of the business for $600 million.

Then there's the claim that she was mean on set. In 2021 a dancer hired for a 2015 Tyga video said on TikTok that Kylie and a friend made fun of her moves and left her in tears. Kylie replied on Instagram that “this never happened”. The dancer said she holds no ill will, so it's one disputed story, not a pattern.

The harm check comes up pretty clean. In what I read there were no attacks on LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants or science, no conspiracy rabbit holes and no stints with culture-war studios. The flip side is she mostly keeps her politics off the feed, so there isn't much on the record either way.

Her tone-deaf moments are more about optics. In 2020 she posted about Australia's fires and then showed off mink slippers, and the internet pounced. She then gave $1 million to bushfire relief, with $200,000 reported going to a Queensland rural fire association. A good response, if a clumsy start.

The latest dust-up is from October 2025. Her “King Kylie” promo showed her handcuffed in a jail hallway between two police officers. Online critics, mostly on Reddit, called it “deeply out of touch” given the ICE raids and No Kings protests. She hadn't responded, and fans and friends cheered it on.
