Do we like Kris Jenner?

Our score: 5 out of 10. We found no harmful words or acts of her own, but a contested workplace suit and a live court fight with Ray J keep her in the middle.

Kris Jenner was born Kristen Houghton in San Diego in 1955, and her parents split when she was a kid. She married Robert Kardashian in 1978, and later married Bruce Jenner, whose career and endorsements she managed. In 2007 she helped create Keeping Up with the Kardashians with producer Ryan Seacrest, and she has spent two decades turning one family into an empire, with herself as the self-described “momager”.

The mess that follows her around right now is the Ray J stoush. In October 2025 Kris and Kim Kardashian sued him for defamation over comments implying they were tied to racketeering and a federal probe. Ray J denied acting with malice and says his words were opinion, and on 14 August 2026 the judge let their case go ahead, with a trial set for March 2028. His lawyer says he will appeal, and no court has decided who is right.

The other side of that fight is uglier for the family. Ray J cross-claimed that they broke a 2023 settlement over the old tape, which they dispute, and in April 2026 that claim was sent to private arbitration. A judge also refused to seal the settlement, calling their reasons “too vague, speculative, amorphous, and unsupported”. Kim swore in a filing that she and her mum are not part of a criminal enterprise, and Ray J’s side didn’t respond to comment requests.

Then there’s the workplace claim. A former bodyguard alleged in a lawsuit that Kris made unwanted sexual advances and comments, and that he was retaliated against after complaining. Her lawyer said she “categorically denies” any inappropriate behaviour and called the claims fabricated. The case went to arbitration and in 2023 he asked for it to be dismissed with prejudice, so it was never tested in court. Settlement terms are unknown.

On the harm check, we found no harmful words or campaigning of her own. When Caitlyn Jenner came out as trans, Kris told TV Guide in 2016 that she knew little about it beforehand and leaned on prayer and time to cope. In 2018 she told Ellen DeGeneres that Kanye West acts with good intentions after his remarks on slavery and his support for Donald Trump drew heavy criticism. Some will read that as loyalty and some as going soft on him. We couldn’t find her own words on climate, migrants or vaccines, and that’s a gap rather than a pass-mark flourish.

The good stuff is harder to pin down than the headlines. She has built and run one of the most durable reality TV businesses going, and she is still a fixture on the family’s Hulu show. Reports mention donations to fire relief and children’s charities, but we couldn’t open and date a solid source for them, so we won’t lean on them. Honest answer: she is a formidable operator, and the kindness side of the ledger is mostly unverified.
