Do we like Khaby Lame?

Our score: 8 out of 10. No harmful words or acts found, and real public-service work, but the record I could open is thinner than for most.

Khaby Lame is the Italian-Senegalese creator who became one of the most-followed people on TikTok by saying nothing at all. His signature move is a silent shrug at over-complicated life hacks. Ghana News Agency reports he was born in Mbacké, Senegal. I couldn't open a full profile on his early years, so the factory-to-fame backstory is left out rather than guessed.

The big recent story is money. In January 2026 he sold a stake in the company behind his brand to Rich Sparkle Holdings, in a deal reported at $975 million. Fortune's coverage ties it to plans for an AI avatar of him. It's a business move, not a moral one, but it's the sort of deal that gets people talking about a digital Khaby selling stuff while the real one is off doing Olympic ambassador gigs.

Then there's the 2025 ICE saga. ICE said he arrived in the US on April 30 and overstayed the terms of his visa, was detained at Las Vegas airport on 6 June, and was granted voluntary departure. A MAGA-adjacent influencer, Bo Loudon, claimed on X that he got Lame detained, and a community note labelled that claim false. ICE hasn't confirmed his involvement, and Lame hasn't publicly commented. This is a visa matter, not a crime, and it tells us nothing nasty about him.

On the harm test, I found nothing. No campaigning against LGBTQ+ or trans people, no conspiracy rabbit holes, no platforming of dodgy characters. The only dent is a 2021 Dexerto report that some users accused him of body-shaming women in older stitched videos. Others defended him, and he hadn't responded at the time. That's one old accusation, not a pattern.

The good stuff is real. UNICEF named him a Goodwill Ambassador in January 2025, with a focus on children's rights, education, empowering girls and protection from violence. He took a four-day trip to Senegal to meet young people before the announcement. In 2026 he took on a Dakar Youth Olympics ambassador role, saying he wants to support young African talent.

Honest gaps: I didn't find reported personal donations, and I couldn't read many of the longer profiles. What I could open shows a bloke who has kept out of culture-war muck and used his reach for kids. That earns a firm yes, with a small allowance for how little I could verify.
