Do we like Keon Alexander?

Our score: 6 out of 10. Clean on harm and on how he treats people, but there is too little on the record to score him higher.

Keon Alexander is a Canadian actor, also credited as Keon Mohajeri. Most people know him as Marco Inaros, the charismatic and ruthless Belter leader in the sci-fi series The Expanse, and as Javad, the Iranian mission's security chief, in season two of The Night Agent. He's a working actor with a solid run of screen roles rather than a tabloid regular.

The backstory is thin. We found no detailed profile of his upbringing in the reporting we could open. In a 2020 interview he said he “became awake to social injustice at a pretty young age”, and that playing Marco pushed him from outward activism towards self-reflection.

Scandals first, since that's what you'd want to know: we found none. No lawsuits, arrests or allegations against him came up in the searches. The only court-type hit was a different man with a similar name in Louisiana, which has nothing to do with him. That's honestly the whole list.

On the harm test, there's nothing against him. We found no remarks about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants or the planet, and no pattern of work with people who push that stuff. What he does say in interviews is thoughtful. He described Marco as showing “a lot of the toxic elements” of masculinity, and said those traits are rooted in trauma and pain.

He plays the villain with some care. He has talked about Marco wanting liberation for his people while his own damage makes his methods messy, and said he's grateful to the writers and producers for letting the show go operatic. A bloke who thinks about what a bad guy says about the world is a good sign.

Nothing recent has surfaced either: no news in the last few months and no controversy. We also couldn't find a reliable account of charity work or causes he backs, so there's no big good-deeds list to point to. The case for him rests on a clean record and a decent public voice, not a halo.
