Do we like Kathleen Herles?
Our score: 6 out of 10. Nothing harmful found and a well-loved kids' TV legacy, but the record I could read is too thin to score higher.
Kathleen Herles is best known as the original voice of Dora in Dora the Explorer, the kids' show a whole generation grew up shouting answers at. That's the one thing about her that is well documented in the reporting I could open.
She has since come back to the franchise. In the revamped series she voices Dora's mother rather than Dora, which is a neat full-circle casting. The revamp streams on Paramount+ and airs on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr.
On the harm check, I searched for anything she has said or done about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants, public health or the planet, and for who she works with. Nothing turned up. Her recent work is a family kids' franchise, with no sign of the culture-war company that sinks other cards.
On the good-person side, I found no lawsuits, court outcomes or allegations about how she treats people. An empty search isn't a clean bill of health, but it's also not a red flag. I couldn't open her longer interviews, so her own words and her background are missing here.
The honest summary is that the record is thin. She's a working voice actress with a beloved role and no scandal on file, and the only article I could read in full was a short local news piece. I'd be happy to support her, with that caveat.
