Do we like Jon Farriss?
Our score: 5 out of 10. Little verified either way: one protest appearance on the record, no harmful words aimed at any group found, and no verified good deeds to set against it.
Here's the honest state of play: Jon Farriss is the INXS drummer, but the reporting we could open in full on him is thin. Our page-reading tools were rate-limited, so only one article was read end to end. That makes this a lighter card than we'd like.
The one story that turned up is from February 2022. Noise11 reported that Farriss was one of the people marching against vaccine mandates in Canberra, and that he promoted the event in a social media video inviting people to travel there.
In that video he said “I'm going on a road trip to Canberra and I'm inviting you to join us”. Noise11 also quotes him describing the intent as love, peace and non-violent joy. So the record shows him promoting a rally, not making claims about vaccines in his own words, at least in what we could read.
On the harm check: nothing turned up from him about LGBTQ+ or trans people, women, migrants or the climate. The vaccine-mandate march is the one contested mark. Whether you read it as a civil-liberties stand or as feeding public-health scepticism depends on where you land, and that's why this is a close call rather than a pass.
On the good-person side, searches found no court cases, lawsuits or accusations against him. We also found no verified charity work or kind acts to credit, so we're not going to invent a halo. That's honestly the whole list.
So where does that leave us? Not a no, not an enthusiastic yes. If you love the music, nothing found here should stop you. If you want a tick for what he's done for other people, the sources we could open just don't give us one.
