Do we like Jin?

Our score: 8 out of 10. No harmful words or acts found and a steady run of real donations, held back from the top only because the record on his own views is thin.

Jin is the oldest member of BTS and was the first of the seven to finish South Korea's mandatory military service. He enlisted in December 2022 and walked out in June 2024 after 548 days, with the other members (bar Suga, who was doing social service) waiting to greet him. RM welcomed him back with a saxophone version of Dynamite.

The big drama of 2026 was not a scandal so much as a credits row. When the ARIRANG tracklist dropped, fans noticed Jin wasn't credited as a writer. The explanation was timing: his solo world tour overlapped with the group's Los Angeles songwriting camp, and by the time he joined, much of the album was done.

The band backed him publicly. RM said Jin would have joined if his tour had ended earlier, and Jimin thanked him for protecting the team. Jin himself said he was a little bummed, but that he just missed the other members so much, and that there was no reason to continue if it wasn't with the group.

The one legal story that touches him has him as the person on the receiving end. A fan was charged with sexual harassment over an unwanted kiss at a 2024 fan hug event, and prosecutors announced the charge in November 2025. Reporting at that time carried no statement from Jin or his agency, so we leave it there.

So: a decent bloke by every page we read, loyal to his mates, generous with his cash and short on anything nasty. It's not a 10 only because the record on his personal views is quiet, not because anything went wrong. Dad jokes are the main hazard.
