Do we like Jimin?

Our score: 8 out of 10. No harmful words or acts turned up, plus years of reported donations, but this check was thinner than usual, so we stopped short of the top end.

Jimin is one of the seven members of BTS, the South Korean group that has spent the last decade as one of the biggest acts on the planet. After the members' military service and a stretch of solo projects, Korean press was already framing 2026 as the group's comeback year by late 2025.

On the harm test, we went looking for the usual red flags: comments about LGBTQ+ people, women or migrants, climate or vaccine conspiracy talk, culture-war grievance, and who he keeps working with. Nothing turned up in the results we saw. That's a search result, not a guarantee, and we couldn't open every article this round.

The giving is the best-documented part of his record. In 2021 Malaysian press reported he had given 100 million won toward polio vaccine work, and the gift only became public when a fan spotted a charity banner. In 2023 he was reported as one of the BTS members who donated to Turkey-Syria earthquake relief.

There was an awkward moment in 2022, when reports said his Seoul apartment had been seized over unpaid health insurance premiums. His label, Big Hit, reportedly put it down to the company's own negligence and apologised, so it reads as an admin stuff-up on their side rather than a character flaw.

So would we support him? On the evidence we could reach, yes: no harm, steady charity, and no pattern of bad behaviour. The one caveat is our own, since a few of the key pages wouldn't open this time, so we'd call it a confident yes rather than a gushing one.
