Do we like Jessica Fox?
Our score: 7 out of 10. Nothing harmful found and a long run of respected public achievement, but the record we could read in full was thin.
First, a flag: there is more than one Jessica Fox out there (an English actress shares the name). This card is about the Australian canoe slalom paddler Jess Fox, who is by far the most covered of the lot in the news.
She is honoured at home. Penrith's mayor joined her at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium to unveil a plaque recognising her career, the sort of thing a council does for someone the town is proud of rather than just impressed by.
The latest news is all sport. In La Seu, Spain, in September 2026 she won the final despite an early two-second penalty and took her sixth K1 World Cup overall title, her third gold of the season. Her sister Noemie, also a paddler, missed the podium in fourth.
On the harm test, we found nothing. No remarks about LGBTQ+ people, women, migrants or the planet turned up, no conspiracy rabbit holes, and no questionable company. That is an absence of evidence, and we couldn't read much beyond the sport pages, so treat it as a clean sheet rather than a glowing reference.
On the good-person side, nothing nasty surfaced either. Her own words after the Spain win were gracious, saying of the venue, “I love racing in Seu. The support here is amazing.” The honest gap is that we found little on charity work or standing up for others at a cost to herself.
