Do we like Jeffree Star?
Our score: 2 out of 10. A run of his own words against trans and nonbinary people, plus a muddy history on race, with a few real charity gifts as the only good to set against it.
Star rose through MySpace fame and music before becoming one of YouTube's biggest makeup names, and these days he calls Wyoming home. He's a showman who built a loud, glittery brand on being unapologetically himself, which is why the last few years sting for fans who saw him as one of their own.
The harm check is where it goes pear-shaped. In 2023 he told a podcast that people who use they/them pronouns were “stupid”, and fans said they felt betrayed. After Charlie Kirk's death in September 2025 he said people who believe in they/thems are “a part of the problem”, per Out.
It escalated in November 2025 on The Skinny Confidential podcast. Out and PinkNews reported that he said he is “not gay”, argued the T and Q should come out of LGBTQ, and called parents who support trans kids “weirdos”. Out also reported him calling trans women men in beards entering women's bathrooms. That's his own words, repeatedly, not a stray clip.
In January 2026 he drew fire again for jokes about deportation centres and ICE on a TikTok livestream. Latino creators and Perez Hilton criticised it, and Star defended it as a dark-humour joke that lasted five seconds. We found nothing newer than that which we could verify, so that's the freshest of it.
On race, the record is messy. Beauty creator Jackie Aina publicly accused him of racist behaviour in 2018, and Nylon reported that he had apologised in 2017 for past racist comments, but little seemed to change afterwards. An apology that isn't followed by changed behaviour doesn't count for much here.
There are also allegations from 2020. An Insider investigation, as reported by Girlfriend, alleged physical and sexual misconduct during his MySpace-era fame, and that he offered money to sources to recant. His lawyer reportedly called the claims false and defamatory, and that report records no charges or court finding.
