Do we like Gwen?
Our score: 7 out of 10. No harmful words or acts of her own turned up and the group has done real good, but little is on record about her personal stances.
Gweneth Apuli was born in 2003 and grew up in Albay, the youngest of five siblings with four brothers. At school she was in parades and street dance contests, and in 2019 she was first runner-up at the Mr. & Ms. Pacific Teen Heartthrob contest. Then came a stint on Pinoy Big Brother: Otso, where she was evicted on day 36, and that is where the recruiters at Star Hunt Academy found her.
Vogue Philippines describes a childhood with money worries, raised by a single mum, and she now helps support her family. She was one of the first Star Hunt trainees, stepped back to think it over, then rejoined before the 2019 launch. The pandemic and the ABS-CBN shutdown nearly stalled everything, yet by 2024 BINI was the most streamed OPM act on Spotify Philippines and had played KCON in Los Angeles.
The scandal file is short and it belongs to the whole group, not to her. In May 2025 a viral clip of some members drew criticism over alleged sexually suggestive content, and BINI issued a statement saying they offered no excuse and apologised. The report doesn't say which members appear in it. Separately, the Daily Tribune reported the eight members, Gwen included, reportedly filed a legal complaint in August 2025 over online harassment aimed at the group.
On the harm check, nothing turned up from Gwen herself: no slides into conspiracy theories, no culture-war posting, no words against LGBTQ+ people, women or migrants. The best you can say is that bandmate Maloi publicly thanked the LGBTQIA+ community at a 2024 launch, but the article gives no statement from Gwen. In 2024 she asked fans not to knock on the members' hotel doors for photos, which is fair enough. That's honestly the whole list, so this is a pass on a thin record.
The recent chapter is a big one: BINI took the stage at Coachella in April 2026. The members spoke of disbelief that so many people had turned up, and the group's post said they hoped they'd made fans proud. PEP's report carries no direct quote from Gwen, so we can't tell you more about what she thought of it.
On the good stuff, BINI's eight members pledged P1 million from their BINIverse concert proceeds to relief for victims of Tropical Storm Kristine in October 2024, per ABS-CBN. Gwen's own line to Vogue is about grinding: hard work comes back to you even when it feels slow. For a girl from Albay who has spent years at it, that reads as lived experience, not a slogan.
