Do we like Gal Gadot?
Our score: 7 out of 10. Decent record, a stand against a powerful producer and some quiet giving, but one contested position on the Israel-Gaza war that divides her own fans.
Gal Gadot told the crowd at her Walk of Fame ceremony she was “just a girl from a town in Israel”, and that is the arc. She went from Miss Israel and a stint in the army to Hollywood's Wonder Woman, and she has talked about her roots at every step. She was the first Israeli actress to get a star on the Walk of Fame.
That ceremony in March 2025 was disrupted, with pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel demonstrators chanting outside. It shows where she sits: whatever she does now gets read through the war. Her admirers see someone who won't hide who she is, and her critics see a famous face for one side.
The Snow White stoush is the clearest example. In an August 2025 Israeli TV interview she said there was “a lot of pressure on celebrities to bring up things against Israel” and that the film flopped partly because of it. She was criticised for that, and later said she spoke from an emotional place and that the film didn't fail on that alone. Where you land depends on whether you read it as a woman copping abuse or as someone blaming politics for a dud.
On the harm check, nothing turned up from her on LGBTQ+ or trans rights, climate or vaccines, so that's a gap rather than a pass. What we did find is her Israel-related advocacy: a March 2025 ADL speech where she said “I'm Israeli. And I'm Jewish” and called for the hostages to be brought home. In November 2025 she was named a Genesis Prize winner, and she said she'd give the money to groups helping Israelis recover. Supporters call that standing up under pressure and critics hear a one-sided message, and that's the asterisk.
The good stuff is real. In 2017 she was reported to have refused to return for a Wonder Woman sequel unless Warner Bros. cut its deal with producer Brett Ratner. On NBC's Today she said “Everyone knew what was the right thing to do.” In 2020 she also gave more than $4,000 to a six-year-old's fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy UK, writing “You're a true hero.”
As for recent news, we found nothing fresh and confirmed this month. The latest reporting we could verify is the Genesis Prize and the Snow White fallout. There's no court record against her that we found.
