Do we like Ezra Miller?
Our score: 4 out of 10. No harmful words found and some real queer-community goodwill, but a guilty plea, a no-contest plea and serious allegations leave the conduct side mixed.
Ezra Miller was a big name in Hollywood thanks to the Fantastic Beasts films and The Flash. They were also loud about being queer: in 2018 they told LGBT fans that their expression is unique and wants to be seen, and warned that suppressing yourself comes back to bite. That's the good-news side of the ledger.
Then 2022 happened. In Hawaii, Miller was arrested after a karaoke bar incident and pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct, paying a $500 fine, while a harassment charge from the same night and a separate sidewalk-obstruction citation were dismissed. They were arrested again in April of that year, but the sources we read don't tell us how that one ended.
In Vermont, Miller was charged with felony burglary over alleged theft of alcohol from a neighbour's home. In January 2023 they pleaded guilty to misdemeanour unlawful trespass, copping a $500 fine, a year's probation and continued treatment. The felony count was dropped, though a judge said it could be refiled if probation was breached.
The heaviest stuff is allegation, not conviction. An Indigenous activist's parents alleged in a tribal court filing that Miller groomed and manipulated their child over years; Miller hadn't responded when that was reported, and the activist publicly rejected the claims and called them baseless. No court finding against Miller on that has turned up in what we read, so it stays an allegation.
On the harm check, we found no anti-LGBTQ+, anti-woman, anti-migrant or anti-science words from Miller in the sources we read, and no pattern of working with people who push that stuff. The mooted comeback is a vampire film that Miller says they are co-writing with director Lynne Ramsay. That's nothing alarming, though the record here is thin and we haven't seen the lot.
On the recent front, there's nothing confirmed in 2026. In 2025 Miller told an Italian outlet they had a lot of remorse and called their return to the industry tentative. Good stuff on the page is thin: we couldn't verify any charity work, only the queer-community goodwill above.
