Do we like Eugene Levy?
Our score: 8 out of 10. A clean record on both tests and an ally award, but we found little on charity, so it stops short of the top.
Levy is the dad you wish you had, on screen anyway. He co-created Schitt's Creek and played Johnny Rose in it. When the show ended, he said it finished at just the right time, after a run of 15 Emmy nominations that would be hard to top.
The scandal section is short, because there isn't one. Our searches found no court cases, no allegations from colleagues and no regulator action. The only drama was tabloid-ish: a thin, undated gossip item about a red-carpet spat that painted someone else as the bad guy. That's honestly the whole list.
On the harm check, he's clean. Nothing turned up of him pushing conspiracy theories, targeting any group or backing people who do. In 2025 Equality PAC gave him its Nancy Pelosi Equality Ally Award. He told The Advocate he wasn't leaning into the politics of it, and said of the show that it wasn't about making a statement.
His words on the night were plain and decent: he said ignorance is a big part of the problem, and also told the outlet to live and let live. That is the sort of line you can get behind without a footnote. We found no sign of him campaigning against anyone.
Recently he's been grieving and travelling. After Catherine O'Hara's death in January 2026, he said he had known and worked with her for over fifty years. He added that he cherished their friendship most of all. In June, Apple renewed his travel show for a fourth season, in which he agrees to experiences he has long avoided.
The good stuff is mostly his work and the room he made for other people's stories through it. The ally award is the clearest public recognition. We didn't find charity work to point to, so we won't make some up.
