Do we like Ethan Torchio?

Our score: 6 out of 10. Nothing harmful found and a band that backs LGBTQ+ representation, but he keeps a low profile, so there's little on record to go on.

Ethan Torchio is the drummer of Måneskin, the Roman rock band that won Sanremo and then Eurovision for Italy in 2021. He's the quiet one of the four, and he rarely goes looking for headlines.

The band took a pause early in 2024 so the members could chase solo projects, but they've never formally split. The latest chatter is a reunion at Sanremo 2027, which comes via Fiorello's account of a chat with Torchio at the Italian Open tennis in Rome, not from the band itself.

On the harm check, nothing nasty turned up: no anti-LGBTQ+ remarks, no culture-war grievance, no dodgy company. When the band was accused of queerbaiting in 2023, bassist Victoria De Angelis said that sort of label creates more hate, and Damiano David denied it. In an Out interview Torchio talked about wanting to destroy stereotypes rather than build new ones.

On the good-person side the record is empty rather than bad. No lawsuits or allegations against him came up, though I also found no big charity moments or stories about how he treats crew and fans. That's honestly the whole list.

So it's a lean yes on thin evidence. He's a working musician in a band that has stood for freedom and representation, and nothing found says otherwise. If a reunion happens, keep an eye on what he says then.
