Do we like David Boreanaz?
Our score: 7 out of 10. A clean harm record and some real good, held back by one old harassment suit that he denied and that ended with no finding.
Most people know him as Angel, the brooding vampire from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and then as a long-running lead in Bones and SEAL Team. In 2026 he's back in the big chair: NBC ordered a Rockford Files reboot with him as Jim Rockford, and he's also a producer on it. It's a long run for a bloke who started as the moody love interest.
On the harm test, there's not much to chase. Searches on his views about trans people, women, vaccines, climate, migrants and politics turned up nothing from him. In 2020 he posted a photo in a GLAAD Spirit Day shirt and said “I hate bullies. We're all people, so live in love, man.” He got nasty replies about it, and said they made him turn off comments.
The company he keeps looks fine too. His recent work is a Navy SEAL drama and a big-network reboot from Universal Television, and nothing in that crowd raised a flag. That's an honest gap-check rather than a guarantee, because the record on his personal politics is thin.
The one real blot is a lawsuit from 2010. A woman who'd appeared as an extra on Bones sued him and the studio, alleging he repeatedly tried to kiss and fondle her and sent inappropriate texts. His publicist called the allegations “totally fabricated and absurd”. The suit was dismissed in March 2011, and her lawyer said only that it was resolved, so no court ever ruled on it. Make of that what you will, but it's not a finding against him.
The good stuff is quieter. When Charisma Carpenter spoke out about Joss Whedon in 2021, he wrote “I am here for you to listen and support you. Proud of your strength” in reply. In April 2026 the USO named him a Global Ambassador, after he joined a USO tour in 2024. Fans also got a nice Emmys moment with Gellar, including a nod to Buffy cast members who have died.
So: a decent bloke with a clean harm record, and one old accusation that was dropped with no outcome we can see. We'd happily keep watching him, and the Rockford reboot looks safe to put on.
