Do we like Dan Levy?

Our score: 9 out of 10. Years of speaking up for LGBTQ+ people and women, with no court cases or credible allegations found against him.

Dan Levy is Eugene Levy's son. He grew up in Toronto, started out as an MTV Canada host and ended up co-creating Schitt's Creek, the sitcom he made with his dad and then chose to end after six seasons. He came out to his parents at 18 and says they backed him completely, which he has since held up as a model for other parents.

The show went on to sweep the top comedy Emmy categories, and Levy personally won four of them. He has since moved into a Netflix deal, and his crime comedy Big Mistakes arrived in April 2026. He told CBS the idea came from a fear of being trapped, and joked that he'd be the biggest liability to any criminal organisation.

On company, we looked at his recent work and found nothing that raised a flag. His Netflix series sits under his own production company, and no faith-film or culture-war studio links turned up. The evidence is thin on his co-stars and collaborators, so that's a gap rather than a clean bill of health.

On the good-person side, we searched for lawsuits, convictions and allegations and found nothing against him. Nothing showed up on bullying staff either, though gossip about how he runs a set is something we couldn't check. In 2021 his fans raised more than $50,000 for the University of Alberta's Faculty of Native Studies in his honour. He reacted with “There is good on the internet, who knew?”

He also picked up GLAAD's Davidson/Valentini Award in 2019, which goes to an LGBTQ media professional who has made a real difference to acceptance. So the verdict is simple: he's funny, he's on the right side, and when something sexist or anti-trans hits the news he usually says so.
