Do we like Tim Tams (Arnott's)?
Arnott's Group makes Tim Tam and other biscuits and snacks. It is based in Australia, with its main Adelaide site at Marleston.
Our score: 5 out of 10. Much-loved biscuit, but the owner is private equity and Adelaide workers recently struck over pay. We'd back it only cautiously.
Arnott's is the Australian biscuit giant behind Tim Tam. Campbell Soup owned it from 1997, then KKR bought it in 2019 after a bidding race. The price was reported by local media at about $2.2 billion.
The big recent drama is pay. The United Workers Union says about 160 workers at the Adelaide site walked out for 24 hours in August 2026. It says 90 per cent of members who took a snap poll rejected an offer that included a $1000 sign-on bonus.
On the greener side, the group's sustainability reporting mentions recyclable mono-material wrappers on most of its biscuits and the Australian Recycling Label on most of its range. It also uses RSPO-certified palm oil, according to a company profile.
Older history includes reports that Arnott's Indonesian operation, then under Campbell's, was accused of forcibly dismissing workers, and the company responded. Our score is a middling 5: a good product, but a dispute with workers and a private equity owner.
