Do we like Snap Inc.?
Maker of Snapchat and Spectacles AR glasses; based in Santa Monica, California.
Our score: 4 out of 10. Not yet. Snap faces repeated claims that Snapchat harms teens, and it keeps settling those cases quietly. It has done little to show it fixed the problem.
Snap is the company behind Snapchat, the disappearing-photo app. Evan Spiegel is its CEO. It is a listed company, and its 10-Q filings with the SEC show the legal matters it reports.
The big drama is teen safety. Snap settled with two teenagers who said the platform was designed to be addictive. It settled partway through jury selection in Los Angeles, so it avoided a trial. The terms were not disclosed. It had earlier settled the first two bellwether trials confidentially.
Investors also sued over what Snap told them about Apple's tracking changes. A judge gave final approval to a $65 million settlement, and insurance covered it.
Snap is also reorganising. Tech reporter Alex Heath reported in April 2026 that it might cut about 20% of its workforce. We couldn't confirm that with the company, so we weigh it lightly. We score Snap 4 because of the unresolved harm to teens and the lack of clear good to offset it.
