Do we like Skechers?
Footwear maker (comfort, lifestyle and kids' shoes) based in Manhattan Beach, California.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A big, mainstream shoe brand. Our searches found no recent scandal, but also little evidence of good deeds, and the owner is now a private equity firm. Neutral for now.
Skechers is the comfy-shoe giant from Manhattan Beach, California, run by the Greenberg family. Robert Greenberg is still CEO and Michael Greenberg is president.
In May 2025 Skechers agreed to be bought by 3G Capital for about $9.4bn, at $63 a share. The deal closed on 12 September 2025 and the shares left the NYSE. The Greenbergs kept their jobs. JPMorgan Chase provided part of the debt financing.
Its legal history is mostly about patents. Nike sued Skechers repeatedly, including a November 2023 complaint over Flyknit-style designs, which Skechers called baseless. Skechers also won a ruling against Converse over Chuck Taylor lookalike claims.
On workers, Skechers settled California class actions over store manager pay and uniform deductions in 2005, for about $1.6m. We found nothing newer, so we're scoring it middle of the road.
