Do we like Renault?
French carmaker (Renault, Dacia, Alpine brands) selling cars and EVs worldwide, based in France.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A big, established carmaker with a new CEO and an EV push. Our searches were cut short, so we found no recent scandals or fines and can't call it better than mixed.
Renault is one of France's best-known carmakers. The French state has long been its biggest shareholder, at about 15% in the reports we found. Renault in turn held a big stake in Nissan, reported at 43% in older coverage.
In mid-2025 long-time insider François Provost took over as CEO from Luca de Meo. He has been with the group for 23 years, and his term is four years.
In March 2026 Provost presented a mid-term plan called 'Future Ready'. It targets an operating margin of 5 to 7%. Guidance for 2026 is about 5.5%, which is lower than 2025.
We couldn't check recent fines, court cases or the group's record on workers and the environment, because our search limit ran out. So we've kept the score in the middle until we can check those.
