Do we like Quiksilver?
Surf and snow apparel and boardsports brand, based in Huntington Beach, California; part of Boardriders, owned by Authentic Brands.
Our score: 5 out of 10. A well-known surf brand with a long history. Our searches found little on how it treats workers or the environment, so we'd back it only cautiously.
Quiksilver is the surf label from Huntington Beach, California. In 2017 its parent company changed its name to Boardriders, and the group also owns Billabong and RVCA.
It went through Chapter 11 in 2015 and restructured about $800 million of debt. Oaktree Capital became the majority owner. In 2023 Authentic Brands Group agreed to buy Boardriders in a deal reported at around $1.3 billion, and it closed that September.
In February 2025 Liberated Brands, a licensee that held the Billabong and RVCA licences, filed for Chapter 11. It's a licensee, not Quiksilver itself, but it shows the turmoil around the group's brands.
A January 2026 post said Quiksilver had added 21 new riders to a roster of over 70. We found no clear evidence on labour or environmental practices, so we sit in the middle on score.
