Do we like Polestar?
Electric performance car brand, Swedish-headquartered (Gothenburg), backed by Geely and Volvo Cars, listed on Nasdaq.
Our score: 5 out of 10. Record sales and a big model push, but shaky finances and share price. We'd hold off backing it with our money.
Polestar is a Swedish electric car brand backed by Geely of China and Volvo Cars. One report says Volvo Cars now owns just 18% after selling down most of its stake. It's listed on Nasdaq under PSNY.
Sales are growing. Polestar reported its best-ever first quarter in 2026, with 13,126 cars sold. It also announced its biggest model push yet, with four new cars in three years.
The money side is rockier. In October 2025 Polestar got a Nasdaq notice because its shares were trading below $1. That followed a 2024 notice for filing its annual report late. A headline from April 2026 says losses widened on impairment charges.
Our score is a middling 5. The cars are electric and demand is growing, but the company keeps leaning on its backers for funding, and it has had repeated listing trouble. We found little on how it treats workers or on its tax, so we can't say more.
