Do we like Philips?
Dutch health-technology company making imaging, patient monitoring, sleep and respiratory devices and personal health products. Based in Ams
Our score: 5 out of 10. Mixed. Philips makes useful medical kit, but the CPAP recall and the bribery settlements are serious. We'd hold off until it shows it has fixed its safety and compliance record.
Philips is a Dutch health-tech giant. Its CEO is Roy Jakobs, who took over from Frans van Houten in October 2022. In February 2026 the board proposed re-appointing him at the May AGM. We couldn't confirm the vote's outcome.
There's a corruption history too. In 2023 Philips paid $62m to settle an SEC probe over Chinese state hospitals. It neither admitted nor denied the findings. Earlier, it paid $11.6m over Brazil and $4.5m over Poland.
