Do we like Notion?

Makes Notion, a workspace app for notes, docs, databases and AI agents. Based in San Francisco.

Our score: 6 out of 10. A well-liked, profitable product with no fines or court cases in our search. Its new AI agents have had security holes, so we'd back it with some caution.

Notion is a workspace app for notes, docs and databases, run by co-founder Ivan Zhao. It has grown into a big name, with reports of over 100M users, around $600M in annual revenue and an $11B valuation in 2025. A profile page gives those figures.

Lately it has gone all-in on AI. Forbes described Notion's push to take on Microsoft and Google, and noted the company was profitable. Notion 3.0, with AI agents, came out in September 2025.

The drama is security. In September 2025, CodeIntegrity researchers reported that the web search tool in the Notion 3.0 agents could be abused to send workspace data to an attacker's server. Simon Willison wrote it up.

PromptArmor reported a separate flaw, where hidden instructions in a document could make Notion AI leak data. It said it disclosed this through HackerOne and the report was closed as 'Not Applicable'. We found no fines or lawsuits, so we land in the middle, leaning positive.
