Do we like Morgan & Morgan?

America's largest personal injury law firm ('For the People'), based in Orlando, Florida, with offices across the US.

Our score: 4 out of 10. Mixed. It wins big for injured people. But a court sanction over fake AI case citations and a $4.3M arbitration award over a client settlement leave us wary of backing it.

John Morgan started the firm in Orlando in 1988. He says it was inspired by his brother Tim, who was left paraplegic after an accident and got a settlement that fell far short of his care costs. The slogan is 'for the people, not the powerful'. It now bills itself as America's largest injury law firm.

Morgan was a pioneer of heavy TV and radio advertising for lawyers. InfluenceWatch describes it as a firm of over 800 attorneys and 4,000 staff in over 100 offices. It also notes criticism of its advertising, its internal culture and the founder's heavy Democratic giving.

In 2025 a Wyoming federal judge sanctioned three of its lawyers over a Walmart hoverboard case. Their motion cited eight cases that didn't exist, made up by the firm's own in-house AI tool. The firm withdrew the motions, paid the other side's fees and says it added safeguards. A Massachusetts judge later barred one of those lawyers from a Harvard case.

In July 2026 an arbitrator ruled for a Georgia man who said the firm settled his crash case for $45,000 without his OK. The award was about $4.3M, most of it punitive damages. The firm denied the allegations in arbitration. Its CEO said claims against the firm are vanishingly rare.

The firm does fight corporations for injured people, and it publicises big wins. Those include an $8.15M verdict against Busch Gardens and $47M for an injured motorcyclist. But a business built on volume and a record like the above put it in the middle for us. We score it 4.
